When sharing published material via any means it is important to remember that copyright rules always apply.

Copyright is a property right. The owner of the material in question can prevent others sharing without permission. For journal articles, the owner is usually the publisher. This applies to electronic material such as PDFs which may seem to be freely available.

Before uploading your full text papers onto ResearchGate check:

  1. Do you know what agreement you signed with your publisher?
  2. Visit Sherpa/Romeo to check your publishers policies regarding what version (if any) that you are permitted to share.
  3. If in doubt, contact your AFBI Library for advice.
