There is nothing in the Mosler safe! But it is still a fascinating object.

The safe can be found in the Medical Library, opposite the Borrower Services Desk, and dates from 1902. The Medical Library is located on the ground floor of the Mulhouse Building, which was originally a linen factory - the Mosler safe was used for storing the wages of factory workers.

The safe was built by the Mosler Safe Company, a U.S. manufacturer of security equipment, most notably safes and bank vaults, between 1867 and 2001. Mosler safes and vaults were renowned for their strength. Several Mosler vaults were installed in Hiroshima’s Mitsui Bank building prior to World War II, and actually survived the nuclear attack on the city.

Now, the Mosler safe in the Medical Library is only opened on special occasions.
