There are three ways to share your EndNote Library. All three will work if your colleagues also have EndNote installed on their PCs.
1. Email a copy
From Endnote go to: File>Compressed Library>Select Create & Email > [Select reference options] > Next > [Enter location to which file will be saved on your PC and give it a name].
The compressed Library will have the extension “.enlx”
Once emailed and saved, Endnote will extract the Compressed Library and it will open automatically.
2. Share via Endnote Online
This option applies to folders in your Library.
Go to Endnote Online > Organize > Manage my folders > [select the folders you wish to share] > Manage sharing > Start sharing this group > [add email addresses of those you wish to share with] > [select Read or Read & Write options] > Apply.
The folders you have shared will appear in the Endnote Online account of the colleagues you have chosen to share with.
3. Save a ‘Read only’ copy onto your server
An Endnote Library can only be opened by one person at a time. If you wish for more than one person to view a library, you can save a ‘Read only’ copy to a network drive.
The original library can then be opened and updated by one person at a time. When everyone is out of the networked ‘Read only’ library, any changes will be added to it and a new ‘Read Only’ copy created to replace it.
