It is possible to search PubMed and import references from within Endnote. However, occasionally, this facility is unavailable and the following error message appears:

If this happens during your search, references may be exported from PubMed to Endnote as follows:
- Search in Pubmed
- Select the references you would like to export to Endnote
- Select Send to > Citation manager

When you see the message "Generate a file for use with external citation management software” click on Create File. The records will then be exported to your Endnote library.
