The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) is a public body responsible for the allocation of funding to universities and HE colleges. HEFCE oversees the Research Excellence Framework (REF), which will assess the impact of research outputs from each UK university. HEFCE will apportion future funding to individual universities based on the results of the REF.
