Why is having an ORCID iD important?

Having an ORCID iD is becoming increasingly standardised and some research funders, including HEFCE, advise that researchers should have one.  There are a number of benefits to having an ORCID iD. Registering for an ORCID iD allows you to:

  • Eliminate name ambiguity and distinguish yourself from other researchers

  • Ensure that your work is discoverable and connected to you throughout your career

  • Minimize time spent on repetitive data entry online
