Why do I see a 'Cannot edit Range' error message when I try to add a citation to a Word document using the EndNote plug-in?

This error message may appear if you are using a version of Word that has both the EndNote and Mendeley plug-ins added.
If you disable the Mendeley plug-in, you should be able to add citations to your document using the EndNote plug-in without the error message appearing.
To disable the Mendeley plug-in:
- In Word, click File
- Click Options
- Click Add-ins
- Change Manage: COM Add-ins to Manage: Word Add-ins
- Click Go...
- Untick Mendeley-[version number].dotm under Global templates and add-ins
- Click OK
Mendeley Cite-O-Matic controls will disappear from the References tab in Word, and the EndNote plug-in should now start functioning normally.
