How do I set up journal alerts using Read by QxMD?

After (1) installing the Read app, (2) creating an account, and (3) setting Queen's University, Belfast as your institution, you can then search for journals and follow them.

Following journals in Read means that you will be notified when new issues are published, and can tap through seamlessly to the full text of papers in these issues.

You will only be able to connect to the full text of papers in journals that are open access, or subscribed to by Library at Queen's (or any other institution that you have linked to your Read account).

To create an alert:

Tap the My Followed Journals icon (3 vertical bars).

Tap the pencil icon.

Tap the search icon.

Search for a journal, tick it to follow it, then tap the back arrow.

Tap the search icon again and repeat the above steps to search for and follow additional journals.

And that's it - you will start receiving notifications when new issues of your followed journal(s) are published.

To cancel a journal alert at any time, simply unfollow the journal by tapping My Followed Journals, then on the Preferences icon.

Tick Selected Items (rather than Recommended Items).

Your list of followed journals will be displayed. Simply untick a journal to unfollow it, and you will stop receiving alerts for that journal.
