Why do I see a no credits message when trying to read a VLE e-book?

If you are trying to read or download an e-book on VLeBooks and you see the message:

Not enough credits available to view this book.
or
Not enough credits to download this book.

It may be that the limited number of ‘credits’ purchased for the e-book have been used.
