Please respect the need of others to work in quiet or silence in the Library. If the behaviour of others disturbs your work, inform a member of staff, who will be happy to help:

The McClay Library

A Noise Alert Service operates in the McClay Library. You can report any problems you experience with noise in the Whisper Zones and Silent Study Areas in the Library during staffed hours by emailing You need to indicate your floor as well as the location on that floor and provide a brief description of the problem. A member of staff will visit the location you are working in as soon as possible.

Medical & Biomedical Libraries

The Medical and Biomedical Libraries are both smaller than the McClay, so if you are bothered by noise in these libraries it's best to speak to borrower services staff, who will address the issue for you. Alternatively, in the Biomedical Library you can email with noise alert in the subject line of the email. You will need to provide details of whereabouts you are in the Biomedical Library so that staff can follow up on the issue.
