In Ovid databases, it is possible to narrow search results by whole years using the Publication Year filter under Limits:

Some Ovid databases also facilitate searching within parts of years - see guidance below.

MEDLINE ALL

After running a MEDLINE ALL search, type and search for the following, using Advanced Search:

limit X to dt=YYYYMMDD-YYYYMMDD

dt represents Creation Date, and X should be replaced with the number of the last line of the search before the date limit is to be applied. For example:

limit 4 to dt=20240101-20240615

Here is a MEDLINE ALL search with the above date range added:

1    Neoplasms/ or cancer*.mp.    2814930
2    Depressive Disorder/ or depression.mp.    583477
3    Aged/ or elderly.mp.    3792561
4    1 and 2 and 3    9328
5    limit 4 to dt=20240101-20240615    226

In this example, search results found by line 4 have been filtered so that only those added to the database between 1st January 2024 and 15th June 2024 are retrieved (line 5).

Embase

Filter Embase results by specific dates in a similar way to MEDLINE ALL, but change dt to dd (First Date):

limit X to dd=YYYYMMDD-YYYYMMDD

Example: limit 4 to dd=20240101-20240615

APA PsycINFO

Use up (Update Code):

limit X to up=YYYYMMDD-YYYYMMDD

Example: limit 4 to up=20240101-20240615
