On any occasion where an Inter-Library Loan is believed to have been lost, the Library from which you borrowed it should be contacted immediately.
The British Library charges a minimum of £194.80 for the replacement of items which are long overdue or damaged or lost. The cost is charged to the borrower responsible and includes a non-refundable administrative charge of £97.40 + VAT. These figures are correct as of August 2022.
Inter-Library Loans that have been supplied from alternative libraries will have varying policies so the charges concerning the replacement of books may differ.
